The hotel, built in the 1960s, is part of a wonderful 146-hectare estate where tranquillity reigns supreme. The world-famous 18-hole Sir Henry Cotton Championship Course, which has already hosted the Portugal Open tournament for the tenth time, is considered the property’s ex-libris. In addition, there are 2 golf courses with 9 holes each, a new practice course for 70 players including 12 covered bases and a golf academy as part of an extensive range of sports and leisure facilities.

The vast 145-hectare area of trees and gardens offers guests a breathtaking and unique view of the Serra de Monchique. Genuine friendliness and quality service are the main principles of this hotel, whose five restaurants stand out for their decoration. There are many options, from à la Carte dining in the Grill Restaurant to the casual L’Arlecchino Restaurant, or the varied and themed buffets in the Sagres Restaurant. To complete the range of restaurants on offer, the hotel also has a pool bar and a beach restaurant – Dunas on Alvor beach. Alvor beach, 4 km from the resort, has an area reserved for hotel guests where they can enjoy free sun loungers, shade and towel service, as well as a courtesy bus from the hotel to the beach in the summer (June to September).

The Championship Golf Course is a par 73, 18-hole course, built in 1966, and the masterpiece of Sir Henry Cotton. The Sir Henry Cotton Championship Golf Course was the first golf course to enter the European Top 100 ranking. The hotel also offers two 9-hole courses – the Academy Course – located between the Championship course and the Resort Course.
