Created in 2001, EMARP (Portimão Municipal Water and Waste Company) is the management entity responsible for essential public services that guarantee the quality of life and sustainable development of the municipality. With administrative, financial and technical autonomy, its mission is to serve the community of Portimão, ensuring excellence and efficiency in the management of infrastructures that are vital to the daily lives of residents and visitors.
Integrated Water Cycle Management
EMARP manages the entire urban water cycle. Its remit covers the public supply of drinking water, ensuring that it reaches every home with the highest quality and safety. At the same time, it is responsible for urban wastewater sanitation, including proper collection, treatment and final disposal, a fundamental task for the protection of public health and local ecosystems.
Environment and Urban Cleaning
Keeping Portimão a clean, healthy and pleasant city is one of EMARP’s main missions. This responsibility takes the form of managing the collection and treatment of solid urban waste and carrying out daily cleaning and public hygiene services, which are crucial to the image and well-being of the entire municipality.
Public Space Management and Mobility
To ensure an organized and functional city, EMARP also manages public space. Its duties include organizing urban public parking, which is essential for smooth mobility, and supervising advertising activity and the occupation of public roads, ensuring that the rules are complied with for the benefit of all citizens.
