World Sailing is the governing body of sailing worldwide, officially recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Its mission is to inspire and develop vibrant sailing communities across the globe, promoting the sport with a solid foundation of integrity, sustainability, and credibility. As the guardian of the sport, it is responsible for managing sailing at the Olympic and Paralympic Games, developing the Racing Rules of Sailing that standardize the competition, and serving as the global voice of sailors on all fronts of the sport.

To achieve these goals, World Sailing works closely with each country’s National Federations and approximately 120 Class Associations representing the various boats and boards. Its strategic focus is to modernize events with digital technology to make them more attractive, drive the growth of the sport worldwide, and generate a positive economic, environmental, and social impact, thus ensuring a lasting legacy for future generations of sailors.
